I am sorry to see this. I guess we'll need to cede new technology to the Chinese, who are investing heavily in alternative energy such as solar... :-(

We can conclude in all finality that the Obummer years were a HUGE money siphon and redirection of the Public coffers to his favored constituents. The width and breadth of the graft and corruption will be uncovered for decades and they will remember and write for centuries about the travesties the democrats precipitated between 2008 and 2020. Only to have lived during those times would be worse...

We're ceding a lot of innovation to China. They are rapidly switching to an innovation economy, and of course, they still have the best industrial espionage people. The last time I checked, they were making some excellent solar panels that don't burn up. If Tesla can't get it right, somebody else will, and they won't be subsidized like the Obama corporations.

"If Tesla can't get it right, somebody else will, and they won't be subsidized like the Obama corporations."

The Chinese absolutely subsidize new technologies. Just like we subsidize the military industrial complex, farmers, the oil and gas industry etc.

They're communists. That's what communists do. A better example would be Japan, which methodically raised their industrial stature in the world by dedicating their nation to the effort. It was brilliant. A massive change. That was for the betterment of their nation. China is in a hard position of needing to do something similar to what japan did. For now, it remains a stumbling giant.

The difference between the above examples and the subsidies for Tesla is that the Tesla subsidies do not advance our nation in any definite way. It's more of a rent seeking exercise by people who can convince a few politicians that they have a good idea that will yield a few jobs in an area that is hungry for jobs. That is he entire history of Tesla in a nutshell.

Two very different objectives. Long term thinking for the benefit of many vs. short term thinking for the benefit of a few.

More kudos to japan for transforming themselves from one of the most warlike nations to one of the most pacific. Amazing.
