I read that your new county court house has defaulted and it failed to pass the fire marshals inspection?
Roswell Daiy Record.

It isn't a new county courthouse. It's called the Judicial Complex and is across the street east of the court house. The court house is too small for today's populations (too many crooks to be tried) and and has run out of room. Four judges using three courtrooms so the county decided to build an addition with four courts rooms and better prisoner handling facilities and then a courthouse remodel to expand the other county offices to handle the increased business of law abiding citizens. An Albuqurque construction company got the contract. They have fiddled and piddled and gone long over the completion date. They were supposed to be gone and the complex moved into and doing business by August of 2018. They aren't finished yet and the county finally declared them in default on their contract recently. The fire marshal started the fire inspection of the new building in the basement and quit in the basement because so many things were wrong with the system. This mess will probably result in a lawsuit before it's run it's course. You would think the county would have learned about norther NM contractors because this isn't the first problem with using them.

They showed a short film of it on KBIM, but I wasn't sure where it was located. Albuquerque contractors again, that's become a cuss word over here. They had some roofing contractor come down here who did a few houses, they called themselves Allstate roofing. A local contractor here had to go back and repair what those guys screwed up. The homeowners filed a joint action suit and won. I don't know for how much got out of it.
Allstate was a pretty shady bunch, and went around misrepresenting themselves. I think the insurance company got wind of that, the way they were using their name.

I've only been in your town a couple of times, I found it was easy to get around in. Hobbs is a nightmare,
who engineered those roads there lol. People say Roswell is a nightmare. Main Street has been like that
since the 1940s. Like Canal st. is down in Carlsbad. And the people there drive like it's a Mad Max movie.

I went by the court house and paid my property taxes today. The complex is just sitting there with absolutely no one around it. Looks pretty good even if it is a useless building that cost almost 29 million dollars and there is still some to go. Final cost is supposed to be a little over 32 million I believe. I guess the contractor ran off the one or two people I have seen wandering around during the last few months, took his football, and went home. He's probably waiting to be notified he's being sued. Yes, my little town is easy to get around in. It's only about a mile long and half mile wide and nearly all the streets are laid out square with the world and we aren't seeing much of the boom. Too far north.. Honestly I've never had any problems getting around in Hobbs, Roswell, and Carlsbad. Of course I've been traveling the streets of Hobbs since 1957. I even had the pleasure of being run out of town by a cop in '58. I hadn't done anything wrong. He just didn't like me because I still had Texas plates on my pickup. It's a different deal now. Half the vehicles you see around here have Texas plates on them for one reason or another.

Yeah, we get a lot of Texans also. Not nearly as much as you do but we still get em. They are usually passing through to the casinos up in Ruidoso. And the horse races, I think they go to the one in Hobbs also. The black oil or something like that. I've never been there, do they even have a buffet?

You know some of the best food I have ever ate was at a Casino buffet.

It's the Black Gold Casino and Racetrack and located across the road south of New Mexico Junior College. It's the second red light when you hit Hobbs coming from the north if you are interested in donating your money to them.. It does draw a lot of Texans but I know nothing about it. I've never been in the place. If I'm spending money I intend to see something in return. I've heard their steak house has excellent food and but get a very hefty price for it. The closest I've been to the place is driving along the road in front of it.

Quite a few of the Texas tags you see here are people that live here but drive vehicle registered to Texas based companies and many more are people coming over for work usually associated with the oil field. By the way, one of our state legislators just pointed out that half of the state's tax revenues are now provided by oil production in the state.

My wife's family reunion was in Ruidoso this year and our son took us to the casino for breakfast because of the omelets they serve. It's definately worth the drive out there as it was as good as I've ever eaten. Next year's reunion is scheduled at the same place and I'm already looking forward to another omelet.
