Default First Time Shooting Topper Deluxe Classic

I just shot a very large feral tom cat on the run at 20 yards. He had been whipping my young barn cats’ butts for fun and hurt one pretty badly. I used a 3 1/2” Winchester Long Beard XR shell with 2 oz of #5 shot at 1,200 FPS. I had an extra full choke tube that I’d just purchased and not yet used in the gun. It produced a very tight pattern at that distance; the cat didn’t take another step and he was really mangled. More so than I’d have expected from #5 shot. First time I’d shot a 3 1/2” shell in any gun and it was a quick snap shot. I didn’t get the stock completely up to my shoulder and received a nice bruise on my upper arm. Powerful stuff but expensive.

Dang, 2 ounces. That's a lot of #5...reminds me of the time my friend shot a squirrel with a .30-30.
Not pretty.
