Default H&R springfield stalker .45 info needed.

i picked up this .45 stalker(unfired i think) and was wondering if its for a mini ball or round ball, a tc .45 maxiball is to big and i don,t have any .45 powerbelt bullets to try. i would realy like to shoot mini-maxi ball,s out of it. does any one know what it would be worth in ex condition as if i can,t get it to shoot the mini-maxi or power belts i will sell it. eastbank.

eastbank,

The H&R Springfield Stalker used the same bore and rifling specs as the original Huntsman series. The twist rate was optimized for the use of patched round balls and Minnies.

Look at the Huntsman Forum manual sticky and it gives you the correct projectiles to use.

Good luck......it should shoot well.

The Model 175 Springfield Stalker was made 1972-79 in .45 and .58, they also made a Model 175DL 1974-79 with fancy walnut stock with high polish blue finish. I have no load data for that specific rifle, but would suggest using the load data in the .45, .58 Huntsman manual sticky in the Huntsman/Sidekick forum as Sprint suggested.

I've heard really good things about these but haven't tried them yet:

These are also available and work in slower ball twist better depending on what that has:

Here's an additional design available still:

Unfortunately, the great plains bullet isn't available in .45 any more, so I've been researching for my 3 .45's.
