But??? if you cut a dovetail on the barrel of a 66..
Once you install the new sight.
You cannot get the barrel off.
The Nylon stock wraps around the barrel.
That's why I'm going to try a Gru-bee scope.

OK... I am not that familiar with the nylon 66, ...I guess they blocked that option from being done !

Finally.. got the new Gru-Bee 4x rimfire scope installed.
Works GREAT!!
Size wise.. it's perfect for a little Nylon 66.
Or a Browning SA-22.
High gloss.
Glass is very good..
I ordered the PCH reticle..(love it!)
Low mount rings. Excellent rings. They work great.
Finger tight only on the receiver cover screws.
No POI changes. Half inch group's at 35.
With Remington Golden's hollow points.
Glass is clear all the way to the edge's.
Turants very positive. Good solid klicks.
Took very little adjustment to get her sighted in.
For a 3/4 rimfire scope..I'm very impressed.
The gloss finish is awesome.
This scope is perfect for a Nylon 66 or a Browning SA-22.

I had a 66 and a 77. My sons have them now. Both good rifles.

I'll take a 550-1 over a 66 any day had two gave one to the son and the one I got now was my dad's. Have never had it jam with long rifle. It will shoot anything you feed it

Ran across a black/chrome and brown/black one this weekend at pawn shop. Seems like they wanted $399 and $299. Or was it $499 and $399, can't remember. Still more than I am willing to pay.

Mine's a bit customized, usually wears a peep sight. But as long as the front ring is butted all the way forward on the groove; it holds zero. I wouldn't put a heavy scope on one. This 4x Sportview Bushnell stayed dialed in for a year riding in the farm truck.
I need to buy my kids one each(or trade an old tractor for them) so they'll remember the .22 auto their dad favored since 1972.
