Default Holy Grail, I think

I think I have found my holy grail. I started with a guild drilling in 16 X 9.73x72 without a scope, traded it after a few years for a Simson cape gun in 16 X 25-35 with a scope, traded that after a few years for a J.P. Sauer drilling in 16 X 8.75 without a scope. None of these seemed just quite right. I liked the idea of a scope, I like the three barrels, I like the 25-35 cartridge. Just the other week a friend offered me the perfect drilling, one I had tried to pry from him several years ago.

It's a Kreigoff Kurtz drilling with factory scope in 16 X 25-35 with the short 22" barrels. Now, I just have to wait for turkey season.

Looks like 16x16 over 25-35. Nice combination. Put a 22mag insert into the right barrel & update the scope and it would be a dandy.

Nice Drilling.....

Have you had a chance to shoot it?

Would it be possible to post a few pics of the scope mount bases?

Of the pre WWII drillings I really like the Christoph Funk. Having said that any drilling from Suhl is always a very good choice.

Post WWII there are a lot of very fine makers out of Germany.

Actually, I like the scope that came with it. It's accurate and compliments the gun. The mounts are also see-through.

One thing I noticed about this Kreighoff, which I came to find denotes an earlier gun is that the side greener safety is strictly for the shotgun barrels and the top tang slide not only pops up the sight but is also the safety for the rifle. They are independnent. Once you ingrain that in your mind, it makes a lot of sense.

Since the upgrade, many folks posts came with a link for the pics not the actual pic??

On my screen there are "ATTACHED IMAGES" & green colored type. Click that and you should be able to bring up pics.
