Why think, do it. I doubt there are many guys on here with a Drilling.
Some ? Sure.

They are the ones that when you would be across the Inlet in the "flats", they would fly over and someone would holler out "POLISH GEESE" and everyone would let loose on them! lol

Eh, I wouldn't take a $3000 to $25000 shotgun where I might stumble and drop it in a hog wallow.

Your old parker hammer gun on the other hand, would be just right, pattern and recoil wise.

My krieghoff is not a 25,000 gun I assure. If it was I wouldnít own it. I paid about 2,500 for it and then had a couple things fixed the way I wanted it. But itís a hunting gun pure and simple. If I drop it in the mud Iíll hose it off and blow it dry with my air compressor and oil it good. It will be ok again.

Dang, I've had my drilling on so many hunts you wouldn't believe it...

It's lived in a tent with me for weeks, keeping me fed in every kind of weather you can dream up! NO WAY did it ever keep me from taking it out, just because it may get dirty/wet or anything else...

Here it is on a couple week long moose hunt in the interior of Alaska, living in a tent,

I bought it for ME, be damned if I care about it's value getting lowered! It's going hunting with me when ever I want...period!

good attitude Drilling - its to use and I hope PastorP takes some birds with his. If I had one, taking birds would definitely add to my enjoyment of the piece.

Huh grew up in Alaska and never heard of Polish Geese - guessing cormorant some sort of fish duck that disappeared deep into that Inlet mud......

Met a guy once in Cold Bay who hunted wi a drilling - first I ever heard of them actually - he was hunting geese and caribou. I think it was a 7x57 , 16 ga - I never got a look at it but the concept seemed very cool to me - that must have been about 1982 or so. Very nice older gentleman.

Have fun PastorP and share some bird shooting stories.

I use my Greifelt 16/16/8x57JR for dove hunting. It is ballanced perfectly.

Plus those dove dont do well with the 8x57JR.... Just Kidding.....

Here in Texas the combo or drilling are the perfect all arund hunting tools. While dove hunting if you come across a hog or coyote the rifle is right there.

Drilling Man has been a huge proponent of the drilling/combo and their versatility. And he is right.

I know I was a real pest with all my questions at first but DM gave me answers I needed. I think he helped both of us get into the drilling scene. I know I was a real pest at first with all my questions. But DM stuck with it and now we’re both hooked.

I even "share" with my friends, letting them shoot my drilling too,

She was one happy camper with her doe!

Also a buddy came over when I was about to go to my spot, I invited him to go along, and handed him my drilling when some deer came out,

We loaded his doe on top of his jeep, and he went home with a big smile on his face! lol
