Default What is it worth up date info.

Need some help ball park will do fellow is wonting to trade me a Dan Wesson 6 inch barrel revolver in 357 mag so what is the thing really worth, don't know mod number yet. Ok fellow got back to me said it is a Monson era Before move what ever that means 15-2 6 inch barrel with Cerakote not familiarly with that but have heard the term.
After more research on the forum, I should have posted on Dab Wesson forum I looked up history and find it was made sometime before 1995 and in looking on the Gun broker forum it is not worth what the fellow is asking for it in a trade so will have to pass on it and having this coating on it also knocks it down in value.

Depends on which one it is Deacon. I have a model 15-2 that is in nice shape and I got it for $500 a couple of years ago and it came with the feeler gauge and barrel wrench. It shoots lights out too!

if its been redone with cerakote its a shooter at best and will NEVER be any kind of collector without the original finish. I wouldn't personaly pay more then 300 bucks for it. Who knows how beat up it was before it was recoated. DW pistol packs have a bit of a collectors interest but just a gun makes it worth less then a smith in similar condition and a k frame that's been refinished with some spray on finish is a 300 dollar gun IF its a good one.

Having owned one years ago I'd be leery of buying a used one. Honestly don't think I'd pay $300 for one even if it had the original finish.

They had a very good finish as they came from the factory so if one has been refinished then it probably wasn't taken care of properly somewhere along the line. It was an innovative design for the times, and was very accurate. They were popular with the steel silhouette shooters, and sort of dominated that sport for a time.

Double action pull was nothing to write home about - just okay at best. And the reason I would be reluctant to buy a used one is because the hammer and trigger were made of "sintered" metal - think of metal dust formed and pressed into shape. They had a thin case hardening and any bubba "gunsmith" could easily stone that off and then the hammer and trigger were ruined.

Seracoate usually means it was in rough condition, so they covered it up.

Mod 15s in nice shape go for 400 to 500. Add on the Cerakote, and itís worth no more than half that.

Yes I passed on it after the fellow said he was looking for 800 in trade. No thanks.
