Default China has an advantage over the US Navy that could defeat for US warships in a fight

Chinese warships can shoot farther than the US Navy, an ability that could prove "decisive" in a naval conflict, experts argue.

China is arming its surface warships with supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles with far greater range than the Cold War-era subsonic missiles the US Navy has in its arsenal.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy's advanced Type 052 and Type 055 destroyers carry YJ-18 cruise missiles with an operational range that extends out to 540 kilometers.

US Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers and Ticonderoga-class cruisers are armed with shorter-range missiles, such as the Harpoon anti-ship missiles and SM-6s with surface-to-surface capabilities that have ranges up to only about 240 kilometers.

The YJ-18 missile is equipped with a 300 kg high explosive (HE) warhead capable of taking out a destroyer-sized ship. The HE warhead can be replaced by an anti-radiation/electromagnetic pulse warhead that is said can take down up to 60 percent of the enemy ship's electronic systems at a range of 50 meters after detonating. After the vertical launch the missile's turbojet engine is capable of flying at a cruise speed of Mach 0.8 for about 180 kilometers after that point the warhead section separates and a solid rocket engine ignites allowing at a top speed of Mach 2.5-3 for about 40 kilometers. The missile can maneuver at 10G acceleration to avoid enemy interception by air-to-air or surface-air missiles. The missile design and performance is very similar to Russia's 3M54E which may have been the template for the YJ-18.

so as you see we are relying on our jet aircraft to get close enought with our new LRASMs or subs to launch at chinas navy ships is that good enought ? or is that our weak link

Quote:
The good news for the United States is that a F/A-18E/F Super Hornet can haul four LRASMs. A B-1B Lancer can haul up to 24 internally. The F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-15E Strike Eagle can also carry this missile. But, more likely, the LRASM will be launched from surface ships like the Zumwalt-class destroyers.

see it takes time to get launch our jet aircraft in flight and armed
to take the battle to chinas ships , all china navy has to do is fire all thier missles at once from there decks over whelming our defenses and blowing our counter strike jets sitting ducks right off the decks of carriors..
THINK about it!

I ain't so sure about that lol. Go for it China, we have technology that could knock out all of those
Missles right out of the air. Leaving the Chinese exposed to our second strike.
Sagia, you don't seem to give America much credit.

Under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, a Cold War-era agreement aimed at reducing the threat of nuclear conflict, the United States and Russia are banned from deploying this class of missiles, with a range between 500 and 5,500 kilometers (3,418 miles). But Beijing, unrestrained by the INF Treaty, is deploying them in massive numbers.

This includes so-called carrier killer missiles like the DF-21D, which can target aircraft carriers and other warships underway at sea at a range of up to 1,500 kilometers, according to Chinese and Western military analysts. If effective, these missiles would give China a destructive capability no other military can boast.

I really doubt that the military publishes it's latest and greatest technology for the whole world to know. Remember when we were on the brink of Desert Storm and we were being told that where we had guns that would shoot fifteen miles that Saddam had guns that would shoot thirty miles and we didn't stand a chance against them and his Republican Guard? I heard the interview when this was spouted. Didn't do him much good did it even if it were true. Someone is always telling us how our equipment doesn't stack up against a potential foe's. Don't make it true. You reckon the pilot of that F-35 might have been part of the problem?

sagia,

Your last post got me to realize.
I don't ever remember hearing any news or anything about Russia
contesting China's claim to the entire south China sea.
The USA, UK, Japan, Taiwan, Philippians even Vietnam
But no Russia?!

Are they just not making the news or what?

Moscow’s official position presents Russia as an extra-regional actor with no stakes in the dispute. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russia “had never been a participant of the South China Sea disputes” and considers it “a matter of principle not to side with any party.”

Sagia you give more credit to our enemy's than you do your own country.

You sound more like Chinese propaganda.
