Cummins has a lengthy criminal background in Sumner County with signs of escalating violence.

He was first arrested in December 2012 for violation of an order of protection and simple possession of Sch. II drugs. He was released about a month later on time served.

In August 2013, he was arrested again for domestic assault and sentenced to 150 days in jail.

A few years later, in 2017, Cummins was arrested in Sumner County three more times.

In February 2017, he was charged with theft under $1,000 and evading arrest. Police records indicate he posted bond. Later in June, he served nearly two months in jail for robbery, domestic assault and violation of probation (for the theft charge).

Three months later, in Sept. 2017, Cummins was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated arson (charge reduced to attempted aggravated arson), escape (reduced to resisting arrest), and violation of probation for domestic assault, evading arrest and theft. He was sentenced to 180 days on each charge day-for-day.

Perhaps if the govt officials would spend more time on NICS tests and less time "resisting", these potential killers would be sorted out !

Can we now follow the usual leftist pattern of accusation and blame those same lefties for the shootings, because they kept the FBI busy trying to frame the president, rather than doing proper NICS checks?

Of course the fact the ATF is separate from the FBI shouldn't make any difference for the purpose of spin.

It's simple. Bring back capital punishment! You have to be a Timmothy Mcvey or Ted Bundy in a handful of states to get fried or juiced these days. Neither of those two had to sit in jail on death row for 20 years.

Public hangings in the town square would send a message!

One would assume that since it is an "FBI background check", it is administered by the FBI and not the ATF.

Yes it operated by a separate division of the FBI, you are correct.

NICS is located at the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division in Clarksburg, West Virginia. It provides full service to FFLs in 30 states, five U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. Upon completion of the required Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Form 4473, FFLs contact the NICS Section via a toll-free telephone number or electronically on the Internet through the NICS E-Check System to request a background check with the descriptive information provided on the ATF Form 4473. NICS is customarily available 17 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays (except for Christmas). Please be advised that calls may be monitored and recorded for any authorized purpose.
