Default What a brilliant move !

.
This has to be one of the most boneheaded ideas ever conceived by a local government. Reward people for being indolent, by giving them free dope!

https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/201...el-greenfield/

People are fleeing that city, so to retain some of their population the plane is "free pot" ! Of course, for some people, free dope to smoke will only exacerbate

their problems.

So it seems with the hi-jinx that will be going on in town, with so much puffing going on, will only cause what hard working, normal people to leave the place.

So, what will Evanston look like in another 5 years? ..care to guess?

It is a sad situation that despite the associated problems, so many people simply must have their drug of choice.

However, that subject link has little to do with the situation in Evanston. The politicos in Evanston not only seem to be dropping their resistance to certain drugs, but actually aid the addicts in their pursuit of them.

The politicians idea is to sell dope in order to pay "reparations" (here we go again) to people who never were a slave..but with a new twist.

In this case they will get the reparations money to pay for slavery..from folks who are currently in slavery...to drugs.

At least in this case, they won't be robbing the money from people who never had anything to do with slavery..they couldn't have, 150 years ago.

From the article;

There is a lot of money in banks. But banks are notoriously unwilling to part with it. Evanston already has $218 million in unfunded pension liabilities and has seen its bonds downgraded over its finances.
But there’s lots of money in drugs. And the People’s Republic of Evanston will use the sales tax money from pot to fund racial reparations. If there’s anything that will save Evanston, it’s selling drugs and giving the proceeds to black people to apologize for the slavery which never existed there.

Lace all confiscated "white powder" drugs with fentanyl (or strychnine) and put them back on the street. Drug problem SOLVED in 24-48 hours.

1. Portugal: The first country in the European Union to decriminalize all drugs has seen a decline not only in arrests, but in illicit drug use overall. While there are still small fines for selling drugs, the country’s focus is on rehabilitation, harm reduction and treating addiction as a disease.

Well, DUH. When all drugs are decriminalized why wouldn't you see a decline in illicit use over all? If they are legal I believe that makes them are no longer illicit.

Yes, the Portuguese have chosen to prolong the addiction lifestyle by furnishing the tools to the addicted.
Just give'em what they want, and they'll quit robbing and stealing.

There's a philosophical difference. In this country we treat addiction as a crime, and in some other countries it's treated as a disease. Here are good and bad things about both approaches. We're in a bad position to criticize. War on drugs isn't working. Massive drug enforcement isn't working.

I'd like to know more about places where they have made meaningful improvements, if there are such places.

The morgues would quickly fill up. Standing room or reservations only. The cremation ovens would be working
night and day.

There's a lot of demand for drugs. I wonder why. In all seriousness, do you know why there are so many Americans on powerful drugs?
