Re-registering n95 NIOSH approved industrial particulate masks as n95 FDA approved medical masks.

The NIOSH masks have the same particulate removal efficiency as the FDA masks but apparently weren't legal for use by medical staff seeing patients.

I'll bet both masks came off the same production line but were just labeled differently.

This was a prudent move and pushed a significant number of protective masks into the medical supply chain

This was a prudent move, based on science, and pushed a significant number of additional protective masks into the medical supply chain.

You're probably right about both types of masks coming off the same production line and just being labeled differently. The other difference would be the ones labeled medical masks were priced several times higher than the industrial masks!

And they may have jumped through the regulatory morass and paid enough to be able to label it, a lot of that over regulation needs to be rolled back.
