Ever had your berry plants freeze out?

Yep, I know this is a bit late...

This spring while checking out my red and black raspberry plants and my blueberry plants I saw that the tops of the red raspberries and the blueberry plants were dead. Probably the top 12” or so. In 40 years of gardening I have never had that happen (that I can remember).

I cut off the dead stuff and while it all grew back we only got 1/2 of what we usually get. Now I expect that with the black raspberry plants since we are north of their grow zone, but with them the whole plant dies if it happens.

Have any of you experienced this? I was really surprised with the red raspberries as I didn’t think cold could really effect them. Also I might add that my neighbor had no damage to her plants, although her’s are along a 6” privacy fence so have some cover.
