Default 41 Mag 3screw

I found a nice old 41 mag 3 screw that I had to take home. I'd like to hear any advice and need proven loads for playing and hunting.

Thanks
John

You will find a lot of loading information here...

Depending on what year your OM was made, the early one before I believe 1970+- had a short front sight...this made sighting in to POA sometimes impossible...

Have two Ruger BHs in .41 Magnum that are NMs made in 1977. Have settled on 8.0, 9.0&10.0 grains of Unique with bullets weighing between 200 and 230 grains... Favorite load is 8.0 grains of Unique with a Keith 220 which runs a little over a 1000 fps from the short barrel...

Have fun with your gun...Bob

I had one of those early 3 screws mentioned and it was dead on with 9grs of Unique under 220gr SWC's- at 120 yards. 6 o'clock hold at close range had real meaning! It shot closest to the sights with 175gr jhp at maximum velocity- but was no fun to shoot then.....
Love me some .41 magnum Blackhawk ever since. Other than the grips, I think my 2019 6-1/2" RBH is built just as well as that first one.

I picked up a WFN Arsenal Mold
For mine last year.

First year of production RUGER 41 Magnum 6.5”. It’s a favorite for sure. I bought it some twenty five plus years ago and gave it to my pop. He gave it back last Summer.
I bought this mold and use that 9g Unique load under it it’s a tack driver.

Good luck with yours!

I love the old 3 screws. I have at least 1 in about every caliber they made. The triggers in them are so much better than in the New Models.

Have just one 3screw, it happens to be in 41mag from late 1960s. Really like it, shoots great. Someone gave it a light trigger though at less than 3lbs, that is not my preference but can deal with it.
