Saturday was washout literally. Sunday saw a nice doe and a nice buck, but both were coming in at the precise worst place where I was sitting and both figured me out before they presented. Finally had a doe meander in and presented a nice broadside at aroud 40 yards. Ruger 77/357 shooting 158 xtp and some H110. Bullet performed flawlessly destroying the does heart and coming to rest under the skin on far side. Easy to spot and recover. Both deer and bullet.

Will get pics up shortly.

If the rest of the hunting was like mine and all my local buddies, you wont be seeing much. Five hunts so far, including a nature preserve draw hunt, and still havent seen a deer.

Spent the last 3 morning and evenings in my favorite stand. Have not seen anything. Did see a young Eagle in a field and an adult Eagle flying looking for supper.

First off congrats to all.

I have a 358 Norma I am working up but in a rifle. I can't imagine touching off that round in an encore let alone the 458 WM. Wow.

My brother came up from Texas for the Turkey Day Dinner. We got some hunting in and he took a nice doe Wednesday morning with a 30-30 at about 20 yards or so. While we were field dressing we had a coyote approach. He stopped and sat all the while watching us intently at about 250 or so yards. He was probably being polite waiting for us to finish field dressing and anticipating a fresh gut pile to snack on. I decided to be rather rude to him. Took a shot with my 35 Whelen. I put the shot right in front of him. He got peppered pretty good with the dirt and debris and took off at warp speed. I think he may still be running... We had a good laugh.

Anyway I will get pics up when I can pull em from my phone. Good times.
