No body cares about the slavery that exists today in Mauritania, NIgeria, Sudan and Libya. Barak Obama's Autobio openly talks about how his African grandfather purchased an African woman for the price of 15 cattle.

When Fascist Italy invaded Ethiopia in the 1930's, slavery was still legal and Mussolini's armies emancipated 3.5 million African slaves from their African slave owners.

That's almost as many African slaves as freed by Abraham Lincoln, yet Mussolin gets no credit.

There has never been any organized opposition to slavery in Africa. All of the organized opposition to slavery in the last 200 years has been in WHITE countries.

Why do you think Blacks from all over the world (Haiti, Somalia, etc) flee to the USA for a "better life" instead of creating a better life in their own lands?

Why didn't your ancestors create a better life in their homeland instead of coming here?

All these reforms were apparently not enough to prevent Italy from using the issue as one of its justifications for its second Ethiopian invasion in 1935. The issue proved a reliable propaganda tool to convince the world that Ethiopia was indeed not a “civilized nation” and therefore did not deserve to be treated like one. It did not help its case that Ethiopia had not abolished slavery twelve years into its membership in the League, two years past the agreed term. Italy invaded Ethiopia in October 1935 and issued two laws in October 1935 and in April 1936 emancipating slaves in the country (Encyclopaedia Aethiopica, p. 681). According to Italy’s accounts, during its brief occupation of Ethiopia, it freed 420,000 slaves

lgm270,

Your numbers are a bit off on the number of slaves Italy freed. It is worth noting that Ethiopia did not as a country abolish slavery until the 1940s.

The great majority of Africans sold into slavery were sold into slavery by other Africans. The popular portrayal of raiding parties of European traders going inland to gather slaves was for the most part a myth.

Less than 10% of the Africans sold into slavery came to the United States. Most went to the Caribbean and South America.

Just a couple random things I found while researching your Ethiopia numbers.
