Illinois advances legalized pot after home growing settled

The Illinois House has sent Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker another victory by voting to legalize recreational marijuana use.

The 66-47 tally Friday would allow those 21 and older to buy marijuana at licensed dispensaries beginning next year. Residents could possess up to one ounce (30 grams) and non-residents could have 15 grams.

Pritzker called for legalization in his campaign for governor. He has pledged to sign the law.

Rep. Kelly Cassidy's measure also includes opportunities for past convictions for possession of 30 grams or less to be cleared. The Chicago Democrat says "it is time to hit the 'reset' button on the War on Drugs."

Private property owners could restrict use. Landlords could ban marijuana on their property. And employers would still be allowed to maintain "zero tolerance" policies toward marijuana use and the workplace.

I wish you luck but wouldn't bet on a good result. Ill is even more liberal then MI and they passed it here. Funny thing is the countys and citys have stood up against it at least withing a couple hundred miles of me and there is no pot stores that can sell to the public and no new pots stores being allowed to start up. Seems theres also an issue where the government has spent a whole bunch of money studying it and still hasn't come up with a way to tax it. Even so it has made it easier on the pushers. They can ride around with a 1/2 lb in there car delivering to non medical card holders. So at least if they get pulled over for a traffic issue the police cant arrest them for possession.

You can grow it in you garden. You don't need a brewery, or distillery.

Just pick it, and puff it.🤗

I still think all this weed legalization is a liberal back door to more gun control. In some states if you have a prescription for weed you can't own a gun.

It's actually all 50, FFLs were given notice some time back. On the Form 4473 it asks the question, so tell the truth and get denied or lie and pass and possibly catch a federal charge and lose that right.

Taxing it should be easy, open dispensaries and tax there, issue permits to grow and tax there. Caught with it in your car, show a tax stamp or get fined. Like it or not, it is slowly making it's way across all 50 states, might as well get revenue out of it instead of wasting tax dollars on trying to combat something that isn't any worse than alcohol.

That is true but some won't and that could be taxed.
