US drone shot down by Iran is not an isolated incident: Walid Phares
FOX Business foreign policy analyst Walid Phares reacts to President Trump’s resolute leadership and decision not to strike Iran.

President TrumpOpens a New Window. said on Saturday that his administration was preparing an additional round of "major" sanctions against IranOpens a New Window. amid heightened tensions between the two countries.

"Iran cannot have Nuclear Weapons! Under the terrible Obama plan, they would have been on their way to Nuclear in a short number of years, and existing verification is not acceptable. We are putting major additional Sanctions on Iran on Monday," he wrote in a tweet. "I look forward to the day that sanctions come off Iran, and they become a productive and prosperous nation again - The sooner the better!"

Earlier in the day, Trump told reporters that his administration was moving forward with sanctions.

“They’re going on slowly and in some cases pretty rapidly," Trump said as he was departing for Camp David.

The president also confirmed in a tweet that he would discuss Iran at Camp David this weekend.

“I am at Camp David working on many things, including Iran!” he wrote.

Concerns about the possibility of a military confrontation rose on Thursday, after Iran shot down a U.S. spy drone over the Strait of Hormuz. Officials in Tehran and Washington have disputed whether the drone was in Iranian airspace or not.

Trump said in a tweet that the U.S. was “cocked & loaded” to retaliate on Thursday night, but that he ultimately decided against doing so because 150 people would have died.

“We want to be proportionate,” he said on Saturday, though he did not rule out the possibility of future military action against Iran.

“It’s always on the table until we get this solved,” he added. “We have a tremendously powerful military force in that area.”

I don't think they are. Evidently we weren't as serious as we claimed we were.🙄

Now when they announce "major sanctions " start Monday!

I'm wondering why they didn't start from the beginning?

I personally don't give a rat's ass what goes on over there anyway. They've been killin each other for centuries.

Give, or sell Israel all the armament they need to protect themselves, and spend those BILLIONS OF DOLLARS shutting down, and protecting OUR BORDER.

I don't give a dam if Japan, or Norway, can safely transport oil through the Strait of Hormuse.
Let'em protect their own ships, send their own soldiers to protect their stuff.
Let those SOB Saudi Arabians use all that weaponry we sold them, instead of us.
Their not our friends, we're their patsys.

Either take out their nuclear facilities or get the he!l outta there.

Are we playing at this crap or what?

Incremental application of sanctions, is just another way to apply leverage. Incrementally tightening sanctions is one way to get the people and lower levels of govt to start applying pressure from the bottom up.

Incremental has never worked with Iran.

Incemental didn't work with Iraq.

Incremental hasn't worked with Mexico.

Incremental didnt work with Panama.

Incremental ISN'T WORKING in Venezuela.

Incremental hasn't worked for Israel with the Palestinians.

When, and where has incremental worked?

Give'm an inch, they'll take a mile.

Let's try incremental choking.
We get the Ayatollah down, and choke him for a while. 🤣

These are people that blow themselves up for a religion. 🤪

Incremental my ass.😖

This "incremental BS" is costing "US" BILLIONS A DAY.

Incrementalism seems to be working with Mexico at this time.. The president suggested tariffs which could go to 25%. So far he has only announced 5% tariff..and Mexico has sent 6 ,000 troops to their southern border.

Incremental Tariffs and sanctions have brought both China and North Korea to the table so far.

Gradual application of sanctions has worked before, however if the initial sanctions work..then there is no need to go further. In those cases, often the public may never know what other sanctions were being prepared for activation.

like it or not, we must consider the idiosyncratic psychology of the mid eastern and far eastern mindset. If we were to hit them with the "whole enchilada" at once, with no opportunity to "save face"..they may just go to war, even though they know it is a mistake, because they think they have no other choice.

Check again, how such a lack of an opportunity to "save face" led up to Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor.

It's just a good thing that Osama Obama is no longer in charge of keeping the Iranians in line. Why he'd probably drop the big one on them. That is--another huge pallet load of cash.
