The reality is that there would probably never be enough power generated even if non-green electric generation were used.
Your right. The math just doesn't add up.

No we could not and will not as America. Some parts of us could and will, but it will no longer be America. And they’ll have their hands full defending themselves from the ensuing refugee crisis that will make our current homeless problem look like a scuff on a suede boot. Those solar wind farms are gonna get looted for parts. Your personal genny better be absolutely silent, and you better practice noise and light discipline ... read about the guy after Sandy who cranked up his genny in the middle of his previously friendly neighborhood.

They will see the lights in a dark neighborhood. Katrina. And you better have a sound enclosure. Or you

Read a story about a guy who had his stolen right off his pouch. While he was still there. He ran outside and it was already gone.

My rural area would do better then some. Everyone has a well. Even the deep bored wells could be usable via parachute cord and containers once the pipes were pulled.

Myself and a couple neighbors have cattle, laying hens and ponds full of fish. A lot of deer and turkey but they wouldn’t last long and rustling will make a comeback. Being able to preserve meat would be crucial.

To survive, we would have to organize against external threats. Probably get overrun.

I don't think there would be much hunting and fishing.
The woods would be full of ambushes, and everyone would be at home sitting on their pile of goodies to protect it.
Lawlessness comes to mind.

No, but that would be a good idea. Not hard to build I guess. Salt would make a good trade good.
