Our first amendment was originally written to protect political speech, since that was where they felt the greatest pressure to conform.
Knowing the character of many of our founders, I doubt they wanted filthy talk to be invited into their parlors or at their dinner tables, and I presume most of us don't care for such vulgarities either.
The slob in question, was speaking on a privately owned network, not PBS, so if they had any class at all, they could legally prohibit such talk.
I am of course, not opposed to allowing dissenting opinions, since they are what our freedoms are based upon. Accusing almost any conservative of wishing to curb free dialog, is tantamount to accusing ice of being warm.
It is not the conservatives who dreamed up "political correctness" as a way to censor speech by way of mob opinion.
My suggestion for this clown to be stifled was because of the manure rolling off his tongue..since those networks present their programs in our homes.
They should really be more circumspect !
BY it's very wording, it is obvious the first amendment was aimed at genuine freedom of speech...and not for a special licence to be filthy..
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
"Politically correct" language, is really Orwellian 'newspeak'. (Michael Cutler)
