Absence of frogs is more likely an indication of a very poor environment rather than an extinction level event.


Salt water coral reefs that exhibit a similar "poor quality" are further conditioned by the disappearance of barracuda. Almost all fish disappear from a poor quality or dying reef when the barracuda disappear. Reemergence of natural coral and a clearing of the waters corresponding to a return of the fish and barracuda is sometimes exhibited.
