The best way to measure trigger pull is with weights. As the NRA does........
Also, the placement of the 'bar' in the middle of the trigger's arch is vital for repeatable results.
FWIW: I have never owned a S&W revolver that had a factory SA trigger pull above 3 3/4lb from the factory.
My FA, .454 came to me with very clean breaking 4 lb pull. This was very easy to reduce to 3 lbs, by just a little re-arching of the hammer mainspring.
No issues with the FA trigger in 21 yrs of ownership. The gun did go back to FA a few yrs ago to get the FP upgrade after the OEM, FP broke.
