Words have meanings. Your choice of words IMPLIES SS recipients are welfare cases in a welfare state.
FYI... social security insurance is the correct term and is prepaid.

My choice of words is exactly correct. I could also have used the term social welfare policy equivalently.
Look this stuff up. It will only take a few minutes. There's no dishonor or anything insulting or demeaning implied in those terms. They're used practically universally when describing programs that benefit society at large. Some countries have more benefits than others. I was surprised to see that they're clearly not understood by a few people here.
