I haven't seen a movie in a theater since May 2010. I'll wait for this one to become available on the secondary avenues.

Yeah, I trust what Kin says we have the same taste in Sc-Fi. He hasn't been wrong yet. To bad, the book
wasn't all that bad, but neither was the Martian and the movie sucked. I admit I just got excited that this
might be a blockbuster. Oh my, what does this mean for Forbidden Planet? Kin, I guess I owe you 13 bucks.

Strange how all the South African Sci-Fi is pretty good stuff. So is Finland, maybe because they aren't under
the heel of Hollyweird.

All opinions Bob. I'd like to see it and decide for myself. If it's anything like the book,it would be awesome.
Well Dave, I still have little respect for liberal movie critics but I read certain site and the way the criticize some movies send up huge red flags.
It the way they criticize it, or reading between the lines.
I hate to say it, but they have been correct more often in the past few years, by responses often from conservatives people I know who spent the bucks to see the movie.
I recently read the story the Aliens movie came from and the movie butchered it also, although in the book, despite bloodshed, it is a heads game story between the alien and the humans , far more intelligent in concept, but still fantasy really.

All these duds coming out makes Cowboys and Aliens look like a classic.

I saw it the first weekend of the release and in a word, "Meh."
The nuts and bolts, to me, proved distracting. The opening sequence of an antenna array anchored on the ground that went into space was a little confusing to me, tears going down a face in zero gravity, "Space Force" uniforms that were simply pre-9/11 Army class A uniforms with almost NO insignia of any kind (something that really made no sense to me), people with ranks that did not fit the ages of the actors whatsoever and a animal research space craft nowhere near Earth orbit?
This is a mash-up of "2001" and "Apocalypse Now," taking the more confusing elements of each.
I've described this to some friends as one of those movies that could easily be half an hour shorter than it is without the audience missing anything. Also, that by the end, you are sort of left wondering what the overall purpose of the plot really was. I've also followed with three key words: Wait For Video.
While it isn’t a bad movie, I’d say it’s just not as a good a movie as the people who made probably think it is.

"When all else fails, call for indirect fire on your position, AND GET THE **** OUT!"
-Exact words of one of my 'call for fire' class instructors.
