Default Monarchs take 3 lives to commute

I got this from a friend as we were discussing the recent, annual migration of the Monarch butterflies.

When we were in Branson Missouri, we went to the Butterfly Palace. We watched a video about the monarch and it's life cycle. Very interesting. It takes at least 3 generations for a monarch to make the trip down to Mexico and back again!
The butterfly starts to head south, lays it's eggs, continues on it's way and eventually dies.....
the egg hatches, goes through it's caterpillar/butterfly stages, continues south, spends its time there, starts heading north lays eggs, eventually dies..... the eggs go through the stages and finish the trip back north.

They were also once captured to make an ink out of there wings for currency. It was mostly the French who did that.

Several years ago my late wife and I were walking out to the car to go to town and she said look up the sky was full of them as well as quite a few flying around the house or just resting on the bushes in the yard they are really nice to watch. There is also a Butterfly place up at the Lake of the Ozarks in Mo. I have been to that one very nice.

They basicly said the same thing you did about the migration of the Monarch.

From National Geographic the butterflies fly all the way from the U.S. and Canada to Mexico due to wind patterns but it takes a few generations to get back up here.
They called the ones heading South Super Monarchs.
