Default 3.5" 12 ga

Are these being phased out? I was in the local Dicks today. Not a single box of 3.5" 12 Ga on the self.

I think for most manufactures 3.5" hulls are a seasonal run item only. Even midway has spotty availability with their selection, most guys I know that use 3.5" or other specialty shot/hull combinations buy them in large lots due to this mixed availability.

I was wanting to pattern a gun. Im not sure the 3.5 loads are worth the cost. I have heard the preformace advantage is minimal over a 3" shell

Howdy! Some years ago I got a box of 3.5 inch #2 steel for waterfowl. My shotgun, a Mossberg 835, just did not like this load. I think I could have thrown the pellets further with my hand. I did get two ducks with the load. However, I won't buy anymore. I just use the 3 inch and have been happy with them. Your shotgun may be different, however. Always, Gene

I have a 935 with the overbore barrel. 3.5" BB shot hevi-metal isnt patterning well for me. I ordered a couple different chokes to try. Ive found that sometimes it take a while to find what a shotgun likes to eat, especially when it comes to lead-free or steel shot.
