Default 454 Toklat anyone?

I had a whole barrel full of old shotguns in basement. Stuff that I took in on trade years ago and stuff that needed a part or two that I never took the effort to fix. A little while back I made a commitment to fix what could be fixed and test fire them all for safety. In the end and over several years of tinkering I was able to secure enough money for those old relics to buy a Ruger Toklat 454 Casull.

I am buying it in honor of a friend who recently passed away. Hank Pennington called Kodiak Island Alaska his home and died of a heart attack at the age of 68 last month. This one's for you Hank! It shall have "HANK" engraved into the stainless steel and will become a family heirloom!

Ya gotta love Hickock 45! His review is one you can trust!

Hickock doesn't much like those whopper loads and here in Iowa there is not much warrant for using them. A 255 grain cast bullet running 1200 fps will go end to end on a whitetail at the ranges that I hunt. However there is a bear hunt looming.......whether it ever transpires or not it was reason enough to trade those old scatter guns for a good one of my choosing!

I have shot a lot of hot 45 loads through my 5.5 inch 45 Bisley.......but it isn't really necessary. However the potential is there!

If I had one I'd shoot hot handloaded .45 Colt loads at the most. I had a .454 Encore pistol once. I sold it and never regretted it.

But kudo's on the rememberance of your friend!
