Default Browning 1885 22 Hornet

I have wanted an 1885 for years. The stars aligned and I found a Browning 1885 Low Wall in 22 Hornet. If it has been fired it couldn't have been much. It has nice wood, bluing is great, now if it is accurate I will be a happy camper.

Be aware they have a .223" bore not .224". If you use .224" bullets you MUST back off on the starting load. Yeah I found out the hard way, but it's a strong gun and no damage to it only to the brass. I called Browning and discussed it with them and that's how I found out the barrel is a .223" barrel.

Thanks for the info Bill. I happen to have some Sierra Hornet bullets in .223 dia. I don't load my standard Hornets very hot anyway, found accuracy from my Hornets with a lower charge of Lil Gun.

Sagia, if you find a nice Browning for a grand, grab it! I paid $1300.00 for mine, wish I could figure out how to post pictures. The only pictures I have so far are from the ad on Gunbrokers.

I wish someone would offer me $1300 for mine. It's been sitting on consignment at a LGS for a year now and I had one offer for $800. Mine has had no more than 150 rounds through it in all the years I've had it but it will go back into my safe before it will go for $800.
