Default New .38-55 on the way !

I'm excited about my new Pedersoli Little Betsy that should come in on Fri..

Origanaly I ordered a CHIAPPA Half Pint Sharps 8n .45 Colt . It came in and had a terribly misfit extractor .

Taylors took it back and would give me credit so I upgraded to a Small Betsy in .38-55 .
I hope it is nice , and right .

We have just moved to Az. and I need to unpack my reloading stuff .

Congratulations! We will need pictures and a range report. My experience with Pedersoli has been very good, I am sure you will enjoy your new rifle.

.38-55 is a dandy cartridge.

I have a 38-55 custom chop heavy barrel made by SSK for my TCR 83/87 rifles and it shoots nice but I am using Jacket bullets not cast. Being a modern barrel it takes the 375 size bullet.

Hi I am thinking about the RCBS Cowboy dies , comes with two nose punches and two expander balls iirc , and they are carbide too .

Im not sure why but the long Postall (sic) bullets interest me .

It is indeed, I once had a 94 in that cartridge. It was a tack driver and that was with cast bullets.

The Lyman 378674? I have that mold and use the bullet with black powder in my H&R 38-55 Target rifle and it shoots very well. I also have the Lyman 375449, which is gas checked, and a plain base, probably Lyman 380681. If you want to try any of them, let me know.

I use the 38-55 Cowboy dies and they work well.

I will have to google that rifle as I am not fimilar with it. 38-55 is a good cartridge though, I have several in single shots and lever actions.
If those dies are carbide it still will not allow resizing unlubed cases as the 38-55 is a tapered strait walled cartridge and carbide size dies only work for true strait walled casings.
Good luck with your new rifle and hope it's a shooter !
