Default I'm tired of covid-19 so let's talk guns.

What do you consider the perfect 4 rifle battery. Understand there are no wrong answers here just differing opinions. Local has a lot to do with choices.

I'll start;

Everyone needs a rimfire. My choice is my Ruger American Compact in 22 magnum.

Varmint gun for coyote sized critters....my choice is my white camo Howa 243/W 58 grain vmax ammo.

Medium game....my choice is any light weight 22 inch bolt gun in either 7mm-08 or 308. Crap I can't part with my Ruger American 450 Bushmaster for Iowa deer hunting. So much for a 4 rifle battery.

Large game..... Remington 700 in 7mm Remington mag will kill the biggest that I will ever encounter.

My choices are pretty easy. First, you need to cover deer hunting, so I have a semi-custom 54 caliber flintlock, with L&R lock, and Rice barrel. No matter where you go, if there is any gun season on, the flinter is the thing!

I'm in the Special Regulations Area in SE Pa, so the other deer gun is my Savage 220 with Leupold 4X12X40 AO scope. With Rem Accutips, it's a solid 200 yd gun, dead nuts accurate to boot. No centerfires are permitted here for deer, and only rimfire for groundhogs.

For varmit, groundhog, coyote, fox, most small game, my Marlin heavy barreled 17 HMR does it very nicely. With A17 ammo, it has pulled off an intentional head shot at a Range finder measured 238 yds.

To round it out isn't as easy as I thought. I'm caught between my Mossberg 140K .22 LR silhouette rifle, and my Mossberg 500 12 Ga that could do multi duty from rabbits and birds to big game. It simply is a shooter that patterns about anything acceptably.

To be honest, if the local game laws allowed centerfire for deer, and varmit, my choices would be a bit more difficult.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional , illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of cr*p by the clean end!

Now, with special thanks to the Truman Museum and Harry himself, you and I finally have a full understanding of what "POLITICAL CORRECTNESS" really means.....

22lr
22 hornet
rem 870 with slugs, 00 buck or bird shot

since i live in California, i am severely limited in purchasing ammo under laws passed by Vlad Tepesh, i no longer hunt but i do "plink" and target practice, i no longer have want, or need , of larger bore CF rifle...the rem 870 utilizing slugs/00 buck will take care of any two-legged or four-legged, intruders in need of neutralizing. (in case you don't know it, California passed a law prohibiting the use of lead bullets to hunt big game with.)

our state legislature and governor are notiorioulsy anti-gun.

lead, follow, or get out of the way!

What about shotguns? I do most of my hunting with shotguns but here goes for rifles:

Rimfire - .22 Long Rifle - Henry lever action
Varmints - 5.56mm AR-15 with 55 grain JSP
Medium Game - same 5.56mm AR-15 (I'll admit I only own one centerfire rifle) with 60 grain Nosler Partitions.
Large Game - I don't hunt large game but if I ever get picked in my state's moose lottery I'll probably get a 450 Bushmaster upper for my AR.

Shotguns:
Waterfowl and turkeys - Remington Versa Max, semi-auto 12 gauge
Upland birds - Ithaca model 37, pump 16 gauge
Squirrels, turkeys, waterfowl, crows, etc. - H&R Topper 88, single shot 16 gauge

Liberal Logic 101:
Americans shall be required to submit to a background check to exercise a right already guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment while any foreigner shall be allowed into America without submitting to a background check.

OP asked for rifles.
But you could add a 12 gauge to my rifles above if including hunting long guns.
