When you pillar bed a wood stock should you also bed the action or are pillars enough ?

Short answer “YES.

EVERYTHING about accuracy is from consistency.
a rifle needs good bedding to be accurate. Pilliars are a key part but solid bedding or the recoil lug and tang are equally important.

I start with pillars. THEN bed recoil lug and tang.

I like to releave the stock before starting any bedding.
Then wrap the barre with electrical tape in one spot. It centers and elevates the barrel in the opened up channel. Also makes a stabuil action FOR bedding.

The pillars stop stock “squish” and minimize action movement. Bedding makes that action one with the stock.
Again, consistency. Its key and goes hand in hand with accuracy.
