If you shoot matches where paint isn't allowed, you need something strong enough to hold yet strong enough to take off with a fingernail or small stick. I use and carry a small bottle of model (pactra) Paint. It's used for model cars and planes etc. I can apply it with a tooth pick or small twig or straw fiber. My $.02

I have a Versa-pack, and for a time, I wanted to run irons. If you are familiar with the Versa packs, you are well aware of the high front sight which is required on the 222 barrel.

I you can try this ..I cut a piece of weed whacker cord which was a bright color, and glued it firmly to the top of the existing sight..just as if it were the high vis material, which it was close to.

If you decide that will work..and want to replace it with a fiber optic piece, you can pick up a life supply of fiber optic rods for a few bucks. Just Google for... >fiber optic rods for gun sights<
