Bought them both at right around the same time. Works been pretty rough lately, no extra cash to appease my firearm demons.

I'm not buying like I used to but I think the last one to fit that bill was a Jap Arisaka 99. It was pretty clean except it looked like a grenade went off behind and to the right. I knew even then that front line soldiers often added "character" to battlefield pick-ups and then peddled them to rear area personnel so they could develop their own stories. This was very prevalent in the Pacific. Come to think of it, I sold it awful fast at a show. I tried to tell the guy all this but he didn't seem to want to hear it.

Swiss K-31, 7.5x55. Three hogs were killed by this rifle last December. I will be shooting it in the Vintage Rifle Championship Match at Camp Perry next month.

Picked up a MAS 36 chambered in .308. During the conversion, they cut the metal piece that holds the forend of the stock to the action,;front of the stock rattled around loose, gun keyholed bullets at 100 yds. Was able to replace the cut piece, hoping it helps. Also picked up some Rem. reduced recoil .308's, to better match the orig. bullet weight of the french ammo. Nice handy carbine,if I can get it to shoot!

In a classic case of a small purchase gone wild I bought three rifles and several bayonets last year in one purchase. I was actually only looking for a bayonet for my Garand. The ad I answered was offering a collection but I figured I'd sell off the ones I didn't need. Now, here is where it goes haywire. Y'all have seen the pics of my Krag sporter. I've always wanted an unaltered version to compliment it and in talking with the gentleman about the bayonets I found out that he had several surplus arms he was willing to part with including a Krag. It was, as they say, downhill from there. Long story short in picture form:

Rifles L to R: '03 Springfield, 98 Krag and 1884 Trapdoor Springfield.
Bayonets top to bottom: M-1873, M-1896, M-1903, M-1, M-6 and M-7.

A No4 Mk1 Brit. But it was sporterized in, I'm assuming, the 60's, the heyday of military sporters. Also picked up an M1 carbine, albeit a contempory Auto Ordinance IAI in trade. Looking forward to giving them a go at the range soon.
