Default Anyone here shoot M-14 or M 1A1?

I have longed loved these rifles, had 2 over the years, and sold them when money got tight, last one was 25 years ago. I traded into one cheap last week, had the Springfield scope mount on it, with a way to big scope. I put a Viper 3x9x40 with Mil-dot on it and zeroed it, was shooting a ragged hole about 3/4" for 5 shots, outside to outside measured! That was shooting some Federal Gold medal, 175gr, and I shot some Lake City 168 gr and it went into an inch for 5 shots. I am one happy camper, I cant shoot any better than that with a 3x9 scope myself. May go thru the trigger, but that is it, has been glass bedded already. Just thought I would share.

Been there and done that and your groups are right as they should be. The Lake City ammo used to shoot fabulously in the rifles I shot but their 173 gn match load shot even better and was preferred, back then, for the 1,000 yard matches.

I found a deal I couldn't pass on a Springfield Loaded model, got it and shot maybe two mags through it, great rifle, my idea was to shoot Hi Power with it but I have continued to shoot my Garand, guess I need to take it out and really see what it can do.
