3 grains with a 148 grain hollow base wad cutter has been my 38 load for almost 50 years.

If you think that load was great - maybe try 2.7 grains and see if that improves anything - that's been my load for 50 years.

That is the load I use for cowboy shooting except I use 125 grain bullets. It is right at the bottom of the published range. It is great for pistols or rifles when playing CAS.
