Teflon Tape Patch in Lieu of Gas Check?
One of the stated advantages of paper patching has been that you can drive cast bullets closer to or exceed copper jacket velocities. Most folks seem to do it without a gas check.
I'm wondering if teflon tape would also let me skip the gas check (say, using a mould that does have the GC groove though) and achieve higher velocities like paper.
If so, since it's so thin, is it sufficient just to wrap an as cast bullet, or is trying to get the whole works through a sizer a necessity?
For example, can to take an as cast 311041, Wrap it two turns with teflon tape, and call it good?
Or is that wishful thinking?
