on my last trip to africa for a cow cape and a eland i was carrying a cz 550 in 375H&H and used it on a eland, but on the cape hunt i was offered a older MS 9.3x62 to use if i wanted and i jumped at the chance and had no problem. eastbank.

That is a beautiful Eland. This is mine from Zimbabwe in 2000. I shot it with a 30-06, but I really needed much more. He was broadside, pretty close and standing still. The bullet either lodged in the heart or ran along one side. We never found it, Elands being a bit sloppy to clean out. It was a hot load behind a 181 gr RWS TUG, went clean through everything else I shot, but I was lucky on this one. I had never even heard of 9.3 X 62 back then, but it would have been a great choice.
One of these days I'll put all my pictures on disc so I can share them properly.

they do seem to have alot of gut. we were going to zim last may, but passed because of the failed state statiust. eastbank.

Great info and loved the African Safari pics.

The 338/06 interests me and the idea of a classic 9.3x62 gets my juices flowing.

I am trying to work a deal on a 458 barrel right now so....., who knows.
