Default Old outboards

I met this man at the Nowthen threshing show this summer.
We had a very nice talk plus he gave me his card, and the card of who he thinks is the best old motor repair man in mid-Minnesota, plus who to stay as far away from as possible.
He does fix outboards for others but prefers to take time on his own restorations , of which, some are for sale at reasonable prices.

old outboards are cool. Helped an old lady clean out here garage because she was selling and moving in with her daughter. Found an old brass 2hp outboard in great shape in the back burried. Told her id buy it from here. she said she promised to let her son have first crack at all of it. He called me a few days later and said hed sell it for a grand. I hung the phone up. my neighbor and I helped his mother for 3 days cleaning and making runs to the junk yard and he lived 10 miles away and is retired and didn't even show up once and had the balls to try to rip me off.

A very interesting article.
And the fact that the oldest motors were the easiest to start really surprised me.

Just because it is old and made of brass does not make it worth anything other than the price of scrap metal but this is what happens when people are given something from an estate and it is old dollar signs light up, after a while they will learn that it was just scrap that no one wanted.

I found these two old outboard sites with pictures; used to be another by a gent who collected , and made them run, who gave a run down on the best old one, or easiest to fix but his is gone.

Not knowing what type you saw Lloyd but the Johnson AB 25 was a salt water version of the ABC 25.
Parts for the ABC are not hard to find, but the brass/bronze parts on the AB are hard to find, so one of those in good shape, is worth a bit more but I doubt a grand.
