just from what i've seen, there's not really any useful or unique
firearms that are truly new that any manufacturers have offered lately.
the bases have pretty much been covered for several decades now, so i can
see why the posts are somewhat slow.
i would also guess that most everyone that posts here has all their reloads
down for their firearms they reload for, and already own the firearms they
have a practical use for, and don't need any free advice about what to buy
and what to avoid.
i've been reading a lot of the trapping posts myself, but as i read on through it
i can tell quite a lot of it is pretty regional as far as equipment used and laws, etc.
the squirrels have slowed down for me (i guess i've made a dent in those little
furry @#^%*'s finally) and have tried to work on the possums some. (got one
small one a couple of days ago)

conan may be on a quest to some foreign far off land to find some exotic one-off
spice or condiment to utilize in his meals. he'll be back

Some of those members have told me that they just don't want to come here and fight with people.
Or have those members try to start fights with them. Out of a simple disagreement then dog pile
them.

I check in here every day, I just don't post much anymore. Haven't been in the mood since Joyce passed away,

If Conan ain't sick, and doubt he is, he may just need a break from here.

Been known to myself, and I've been told by a few they hope I need another one soon.
But, I'm feelin purty chipper since retiring again. 😎👍

I seem to remember quite a pissing contest just prior to his departure. Not my problem, I have my own...

I do have a look at the forums every once in a while.

The attraction used to be interesting posts by interesting people, and a sharing of ideas. There's just not enough of that anymore to capture my interest.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the end of an era. I don't know what, if anything, has replaced good Internet forums. I've seen some social media and haven't seen anything that compares with the early days of Internet forums. I learned a lot, and eventually shared a lot as I gained experience. It was an exciting time in a good media.

All the good hunting and shooting and reloading info. That was great stuff.

Age has been mentioned in this thread as a factor in forum decline, but I reckon it to be more a case of changing times. With the collective fetish for texting, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, and the like, and with the statistic that a lot of younger people send over 100 texts per day, a new form of engagement has become dominant. That form values quantity over quality.

I don't think that should count. Somebody with an apparent substance abuse problem was making death threats on me because he thought I insulted him. That was about the time that the trolls dominated the political forum, and the forums overall had taken a decided turn for the worse.
