No one is making the same revolvers today they used to among the big makers. To my experience Ruger is doing a better job than in the days of old Bill and S&W and Colt aren't doing as well.
Not only that, they do not have the same caliber of people on their production lines. Back in the day they had gunsmiths and trained apprentices assembling the guns, today they have Paco and Tyrone who aren't qualified to assemble yo-yo's.
I agree Ruger seems to have declined less than S&W. I do own a new Colt Cobra and while it is no Python, and from this single example, it does seem to me that Colt is doing a better job than S&W with their new revolvers when it comes to fit, finish and function.
