I picked up a pretty nice snap on forend at an auction a while back but it didn't have a screw, the barrel sold too, with the screw, but it was a .44 Hot Shot barrel and rusted so badly that the screw would probably been stuck anyway.

I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and posterity.

mrmurl,

I agree too that the screw should stay with the barrel, but it has been my experience that parts are stripped from the barrel such as rear sights, bell head screws, and even dovetail locks, and sold separately which brings far more money than leaving them with the barrel. Sad, but it is what it is as they say.

Still in the market to pick up a couple of bell head forend screws for earlier Octagon style barrels. Please contact me if anyone has a couple for sale at a reasonable price.
