"Zulu Big Head" will be just fine.

Some good progress made over the last two days.

All four transoms cut to size with a 1.25 degree angle on both sides.
All horizontal holes drilled for the transoms at 1.25 degree angle.
Glue up of the top piece of one cheek. Now that cheek weighs 170 lbs!

I'll glue up the other side tomorrow.

It is my estimation that I could possibly deliver this thing sometime the week after the 4th of July.

I'll firm that up later.

The time frame the Alamo has given me to mount the barrel is dawn to 9:00. 9:00 is opening and I have to be gone with all equipment by then.

That means I have to leave my house no later than 3:30 or 4:00 AM to get the 200 miles there.

There is no way I can take the chance of having a trailer with this thing stolen out of a motel parking lot. Won't even consider it.

Micheal, hoping maybe there is a local TV Crew there maybe? Maybe someone should tip them off if they do not know about the unveiling. Would be cool to see something like that happen.

Heck, atleast a Newspaper Story I hope

By all means! By ANY means!

Ask them to work to get some free publicity to attract visitors. (They will like that!) A major project restoring a historic cannon at the site has been completed. They were fortunately enough to track down one of a handful of people in the country qualified to do this project, and the results are outstanding.

Demand that the TV folks to arrive NO EARLIER THAN 0900, so they won't be getting in the way while you are setting up.

Great job, which few people could pull off. WELL DONE!

Is the Alamo going to provide a crane to lift that barrel in place.

Do you have a copy of the More Complete Cannoneer. I "think" there is a diagram for lifting and hoisting safely in the book.

Oh, take Cheryl with you to take pictures.

The Alamo is providing an extended forklift. I believe it will work.
I am providing the rigging. It will only take a pair of 4" nylon chokers 10' long.

Don't worry, Cheryl will be there.

I assume the Alamo has a visitors website for information? Hopefully they will atleast update it and put your fine piece in the online Visitors Brochure sometime.

I may have missed this or forgot. What is going to be the exact Placement of this? Location at the Alamo? Or has that even been determined yet? Hopefully front and Center so it is Highly Visible to the Public.

Bruce,

Look at Post #123 and read the captions next to the stone wall pictures.
