A side benefit to using the rubber obturator is that it works as a course pressure gauge . You may not have been aware that the 209 primers are good for roughly 18,000 psi before piercing and the front washer on the rubber obturator will dish at more then 18,000 psi. The front washer is 1/8 in mild steel.

My gut feeling is the pressure was in the low 20,000 psi. The cool thing is you can keep track of the pressure.
