I am working on a carriage for a 3 pounder (Revolutionary War) and want your opinions on the best place to get wheels. I am looking for either 48" or 50". I have seen wheels online real cheap and some real expensive. Thoughts and suggestions please.
NJLight,
I got an email with the same question a few days ago. Was that you?
I use Amish Craft. A quality wheel.
I, personally, wouldn't even consider putting a cannon on a carriage with "real cheap" 50" wheels.
You generally get what you pay for. And that's a big wheel.
NJ,
I recommend Witmer Coach, (717) 656-3411, 1070 W. Main St. New Holland PA.17557. I ordered mine from them, 50" . Tell them what you want; know the parts of the wheel as to not be confused in tell what you want. They seemed to be mid-priced(great quality) and I am well pleased. I'll go to them again.. I second Zulu's point; don't go the cheapest-you eventually get what you pay for. PM me and I can get with you and send pics of mine..
Randy
