i don't see why power baits wouldn't work well for cats.
i've caught cats on everything that i've ever used for
other fish. spinnerbaits, plugs, crappie jigs, worms,
doughballs, blood, plastic baits, etc. etc.

the best catfish bait i've ever used was shad fresh caught
in a cast net, and put straight on ice.
i've frozen lots of it and used it when i couldn't catch any,
but i never done as well as with the fresh.

I'm far from being an expert on catfishing, but I'm convinced there's almost nothing that a catfish WON'T eat! At the same time I also believe they're like any other fish in that some things work better in some locations than other things do.
