So what do the people do that built a rifle from an 80% lower that has no serial # Put a # on it and go to a dealer to have a background check done. An AR with a non removal mag. does not fall under the Deff. of a assault rifle.
tom: yep, under this law you have to number it and have a background check completed. Personally, I would resist and complete the build, test it and if functional enough to keep, keep it. I may disassemble it so it doesn't meet the definitions but otherwise I would keep it for just the right time..... Just sayin' .......
These were built years ago and and have the fixed mag so they do not fall under the NYSAFE ACT band.
A few years back I had asked around about putting a # on them and do the back ground check. No one had an answer that sounded right. Can I use and serial # and and my address to then go to a dealer and have them run a back ground check.
I built them to shoot not to hide them some place.
