|Mule 11||I have a marmot 2 person that just fits me comfortably? A eureka 4 person xt that has served me my wife and two rats for a few years and really like it. Now shopping again. Maybe the eureka 6 person or back to a camper of some sort. Heil I love camping, especially remote packing in camping because then I donít have to breathe in amateur campers campfire smoke. If I have time I check the prevailing wind and get a site on the upwind side of things.|

If this is your first time researching and buying a tent, the sheer amount of options and statistics can be overwhelming! Because tents are the most popular backwood accommodation, there is a type of tent for every type of camping situation.
First, check this list:
MSR Mutha Hubba NX 3
Marmot Limelight 3P
The North Face Stormbreak
Eureka! K-2 XT
Marmot Tungsten UL

|spruce||Ah, yes, the luxurious Army shelter half! Make sure you grab a partner fast - just in case there happened to be an odd number of guys that night!!!|

|nw_hunter||LOL! When I camped out while the property of Uncle Sam, we used what they called a shelter half. When buttoned together they formed an A frame tent of sort. They called it a two man shelter, but it sure was cramped in there. It worked though! We sometimes bivouacked in them a month at a time in Germany. I'm quite sure this is NOT what you had in mind.|

|Mule 11||I suggest campmor. A 2 person is almost comfortable for me while stashing my gear in the vestibule? REI is also good...|

two 6 footers need at least what some call a "three person" tent, four person is better.
find a store that has their tents set up and crawl around in them to see which one fits best.
edit: plus 1 for REI

If you have access to an REI I would take advantage.
Iíve always been well satisfied with every transaction. The staff is generally knowledgeable.

Can't help you any as far as brand.
I'm also about 6' and I know I would never buy another tent less than 8' in at least one direction. Had a 7'x7' years ago and as you're probably aware tent dimensions (and tarps) are in cut size, not finished size. So a 7' tent only measures 6'6" or less and when you figure in the taper your head and feet will be up against the walls in a 7 footer!
Might take a look on youtube - there's likely a thousand reviews on backpacking tents.

2 Person Backpacking Tent
Hi, I'm looking for a lightweight 2 person backpacking tent under $200. I've looked into the Kelty Gunnison 2, sierra designs hyperlight, Sierra Dome 2 and the Half Dome.. Does anyone have any great suggestions? I'm looking for a little more comfort than weight and so, I don't need a 4.0 pound tent. Thanks
