gypsyman One of the reasons is the divorce rate, unfair child support and alimony so many men have had to pay. An article I read about Italian marriage rate a few years ago. Men were not getting married, living with there parents, same reason. Seen their fathers pay so much out, and don't want to go thru the same trouble's. Several young men, whose fathers had that happen, are now in their mid thirties, early 40's, good job, and no intention of ever getting married. My 2 boys, at this time, have no intention of ever getting married. Divorce in the real world, is a whole lot different than Hollywood affairs. Millions of dollars being thrown around, I'd be happy getting one month ahead on my van payment. And, teamnelson, exactly right on demographics. This country will end up like South Africa and many more, not be able to sustain their level of standards. Either because of ignorance, or laziness. gypsyman

teamnelson It is a global situation that the 1st world is not reproducing at the replacement rate, while the 3rd world is exceeding that rate. Regardless of your social convictions, you cannot preserve the first world if you don't raise up a generation to hand it to. The 2nd and 3rd world are not developed to take over. So in essence, all of these wonderful technological advances, social progress, rights, liberties, you name it, are going to be left behind as the 1st world dies/ages out with no progeny. I remember traveling Azerbaijan not long after the USSR withdrew - squadrons of migs just sitting on flight lines, massive tractors left in fields, the Azeris plowing around them with a donkey drawn plough because they didn't know how to operate the tractor, fly the planes, run the power plants, water treatment plants, etc. Soviets did not allow them that knowledge, and they had no aspiration for it.

I chuckle when progressive climate scientist complain about overpopulation, when there's is the demographic that is dying out to be replaced by consumers who have no regard for environmental protection. They are self selecting the end of their own cause, and accelerating the very catastrophe they fear, by refusing to take on the responsibility of parenthood and raising up a generation to carry on. Selfishness has many faces.

Rate: 62 births per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44. [that's very much lower than I imagined.]

Fine with me.
Minnesota has way too many people already.

Your second factor is what the research is indicating; the "want to" rate is dropping rapidly due to artificially induced social and economic factors.

Well, sure the literature approved by the bureau of PTB is going to say GMO does not cause fertility problem in humans. Sure. But its the number one reason (in farm animals) certain countries will not buy our grain, which for one reason if I recall correctly made Iran worlds #1 wheat exporter. (As a side discussion GMO is another tool to destroy western civilization by owning and controlling the food chain by those who wish to destroy it).

So family and individual modes have changed to self-absorption mode, but don't discount affects of GMO endemic in the American food supply; and just perhaps why we live in the 'golden age of fertility clinics'
.
Now I happen to think farm animals are not unlike human animals when it comes to basic reproduction. So I did a little search on this GMO-fertility issue and its well published. Not to spam you, but here have a look below. BTW, number one thing to do if you have a problem conceiving--is get off GMO food according to some folks.

Niska44 Massive uncontrolled immigration into Europe is becoming a major problem with all the country's involved there. Instead of adding to the work force it's only causing chaos and even more government dependency and crime.

The European Guardian is an organization gaining in popularity intending to stop this insanity.

p51 There's a general issue on fertility in general. Just go to any fertility clinic and they'll tell you this is a 'golden age' for that industry. I have no idea why it is.
My wife was one of them. Couldn't get pregnant no matter what we tried, over several years (and yes, we gave up and let nature take its course, that didn't work either). It cost us well beyond the price of a new car with only a lot of pain and anguish to show for it.
People want them and a lot of them can't have any. I have no idea why. One thing's for sure,. the ones that are having them can't accept there are ones that can't. My wife and I heard it countless times. I was accused of everything from lying about wanting kids to tampering with the invitro processes we went through, to lying about doing anything at all.

But it's pretty well known that a lot of poor folks, for whatever reason you might find, have gaggles of children. I have my theories on why that is, but they could easily be wrong.

Don't forget the old 1920s song lyric, proving this is nothing new:

The rich get rich and the poor get children...

US Fertility Rate hits record low

Lots of articles out on this, I chose this one for reference: http://www.businessinsider.com/us-fe...ord-low-2017-6

Rate: 62 births per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44. [that's very much lower than I imagined.]

Factors:
- Millennials are increasingly choosing to forgo parenting in an effort to move up in their careers, pay off their massive student debt, and gain financial independence from their parents.
- The US case is notable, however, when it comes to its lack of federal parental leave policies. There are only three other countries on Earth that do not offer employees paid time off on a national level. Research has found this factors into low fertility because poor work-life balance forces couples to choose between having kids or pursuing careers. They can't do both.

My .02 ... who told millennials they needed to go to college, and why? What are parents doing to prepare a generation of self-sufficient mature producers, instead of dependent childish consumers?
