I will be replacing mine with a standard firing pin.

New Uberti El Patron

Just got my replacement El Patron and found three design differences from my original. First, the wretched two position cylinder base pin is gone. Second change is the lack of a recoil plate. The firing pin hole is drilled directly through the recoil shield. Third difference the floating firing pin. I’m withholding judgement on that for a while. Old El Patron had a quarter notch safety plunger that actuated a plate below the hammer face. Never figured that one out, but I do know it didn’t interfere with the trigger pull. The new safety has “bar” attached to the trigger behind the sear portion. Upon cocking, the bar engages an internal rod in the hammer that pushes up on the back end of the firing pin which in turn wedges/locks the pin for a solid primer strike.
