|powderman||I',m pretty well over gout, 1st time I've ever had it. Couldn't touch my foot to the floor, just the back of my heel, had to use my walker for a couple of weeks I've been able to walk for about a week now. Mu nurse PR gave me a scrip for COLCHICINE .6 MG. after JUST 1 DAY, 3 PILLS, I saw a huge difference, 2 days later a 2nd dose the swelling is mostly gone, and I can lay on my back with my toes touching the covers. the last btl had a refill which I am putting back for future use if needed. CHARLIE.|

|mrallen51||You may be going at the gout problem backwards, better to prevent than cure. You need to limit your exposure to purine. No red meat, especially veal and venison, tuna, sardines, shrimp, alcohol, lentils, soda, organ meat like liver, gonads, kidneys, heart and the gravy made with all red meats since purine is extracted during cooking the meat. You are at a greater risk if you have an organ transplant of any kind, are overweight and take some prescription drugs or over the counter drugs including aspirin. The Chinese have used Meadow Saffron tea for centuries....this stuff is very strong and can cause side affects unless diluted to a low concentration. Another is burdock root. Probably the safest (but can still cause problems) prevention and remedy is just plain old dandelion tea (from leaves and petals, not root)....reduces redness, swelling and stimulates the natural extraction of uric acid from the body. Artichoke tea removes and decomposes purines from the bloodstream, aids in urine production which flushes out your contaminants, nettle tea works the same way. Check with your doctor, some herbal remedies will react to Coumadin and Warfarin blood thinners.|

Yeah, I'm here with ya bro. About 72 was my first encounter with the gout. This old body has known pain in most if not all places, but this was as excruciating as any I've ever known. Whoa!
1- Cut out or way back on beer if you so indulge. Drink lots of water instead.
2- Get you some ginger root, shred it and mix with honey and eat it.
3- Good Luck
Worked for me. I still enjoy a beer occasionally, but not many(it don't take as many as it used to) and if I feel it coming on, get out the ginger.

I used Ibuprofen, 4 every hour w 16oz. of water for 4 hours. Thinned the blood enough for it to pass( had it in my big toe)
Was told Cider vinegar, didn't work. Tried cherries til I got tired of them.
Found that if was from sulfates in processed food that triggered mine. So I cut out most things I like or find comparable alternatives( the taste is sometimes there, not the pain)
